* I drove into lodge gate kennels purely by chance, and was met with two of the nicest animal loving people, Jane and Tom. They have refurbished the kennels to a high and animal friendly standard. After being shown around, I had no hesitation in booking my three large dogs in for two separate occasions.

During the first visit Jane and Tom kept us informed of their wellbeing, and the second visit is due soon and I have total peace of mind.

Jane and Tom are fulfilling a lifetime ambition to run kennels, and I could not think of two more capable people to trust my dogs to.

* I have a 2 year old Doberman / Staff cross called Ruby. We soon found out that she suffered from separation anxiety. In the beginning we tried a crate, which she escaped from numerous times and caused havoc in the house. She wasn't left very often on her own but when she was, this proved a worry. Not only because she barked when left but what we would come back to.

Ruby is a very loving dog but being left without supervision in someone's house has proved problematic. I left her in a kennels for a few days, which I know she hated. There were lots of cages with dogs and when she returned, her voice had gone (not such a bad thing) but she was extremely out of sorts. I tried to leave her with a woman who looks after dogs in her house but this didn't work either. I have to say that I was at the end of my tether.

Until I drove past a sign 'Lodge Gate Kennels' whilst on the way to visit family one day. We went into visit without appointment and were met by Jane and her son Tom. When meeting them, I had an instant feeling that they were lovely people who would give any dog the best love and care possible. The kennels are not like any seen before.

That same day, I took the initiative and booked Ruby in. Any time previously left, I'd get feedback that she cried, jumped fences and so on.

To my astonishment, I received photos via my phone throughout her stay of Ruby happily playing, eating and sleeping. Amazing! From now on, Ruby will be a regular here; I can sincerely recommend Lodge Gate Kennels to any dog owner.

* Having never boarded our dogs before, Rosie 8 (Border Terrier) & Barney 4 (Patterdale Terrier) We went and looked at the newly refurbished Lodge Gate Kennels. We were warmly welcomed by Jane, Andy and their son Tom. Our dogs were happy from the moment we arrived. We were shown around the facilities, which are to a very high standard each dog/s gets in own spacious tiled kennel & run. Jane explained there daily routine and the dogs went for a play in there secure field.

Our dogs went to stay a few weeks later and had a wonderful time. Jane kept us updated on how they had settled in (no problems) and sent photos of them enjoying their stay.

Having looked around many kennels and never used any as I didn’t like what I saw. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Lodge Gate again. I would highly recommend Lodge Gate. They are not like your normal boarding kennels, As they are family run and small each dog gets treated like part of the family and spoilt rotten getting lots of cuddles, walks and play time.

We relaxed and enjoyed our holiday knowing our dogs were safe and having their own holiday. Thank you so much Jane, Andy and Tom

* I would recommend your kennels to anyone, they are spotlessly clean and homely. Bella really enjoyed her time with you and she was quite happy when I bought her back for a second stay due to all the walks and attention she gets. Any dog would be happy to stay at your kennels.

* Just to say a huge thank you for looking after Horta so well - I've never been keen on putting her into kennels if I can avoid it, but as soon as we arrived I could see that she was with people who actually like dogs rather than just running a business, and Horta certainly picked up on that too because she was completely relaxed when I collected her. The kennels are lovely - well-organised, warm and clean, and I appreciated being asked about her diet, likes, dislikes etc beforehand, so that she could have individual treatment [which she certainly did]. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lodge Gate Kennels to everyone who needs to find boarding kennels for their dog/s, and hope to see you again. All the best! Kathy.

* Hi everyone - when I can't take my dog to the UK I leave her with Emma at the excellent Acorn Kennels - however a couple of weeks ago I had occasion to leave my dog for a couple of days on the other side of the water and found a new kennels just outside Battle, really convenient for Newhaven. Lodge Gate at Robertsbridge only opened in October - new heated kennels, Horta was treated like The Queen! Really impressed, just thought I'd pass it on... Even tho Newhaven/Dieppe crossing does arrive at an unearthly hour - worth it for the happy pooch...

Jane turned out to be our Xmas angel when our dog had a serious accident when we were on holiday in Antigua. He needed somewhere to convalesce and couldn't stay at home with our bitch who was in season. It was just before Xmas which was an extra problem. Jane took him in and gave him the TLC that he needed. The kennel is immaculately clean which was important as he had a large wound that needed to stay infection free. Jane looked after him as if he was her own and sent me photographs to show that he was improving. I recommend this kennel with no reservations whatsoever. The dogs could not be cared for any better and nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
